All done

All done with WFR training. Assuming I didn't totally blow the final exam, I am now WFR Certified. I have to admit, I went into the training thinking of "just" getting certified, but found myself really enjoying the course and wanting to be a good First Responder. Our final patient scenario outside was handling a pair of climbers who had fallen and were critically injured. Open fracture, broken femur...blood everywhere! Pretty crazy stuff. Looking back, some of the decisions we made were the difference between our patient dying and surviving....which was the case. Obviously this was a fake scenario, but it was fulfilling none the less to think that I could have maybe saved a life.

Sounds like an intense course Matt. I used to do similar courses back in the river guide days. If yer gonna take folks into the backcountry ya gotta know this stuff! Good on you.

Good stuff indeed.

My WFR practical was a Meth Lab explosion- right near a lake in January. Burns, hypothermia, even a "distracting patient," who had no injury other than being a general nutcase. Really fun!

The class has a way of making you WFR junkie, at least it did for me. You might find you're always the guy with the FAK on any bike ride that takes more than 2 hours, or packing FAK stuff under your helmet out climbing... just don't let it take your spirit to get out there and have fun!
