All done

All done with WFR training. Assuming I didn't totally blow the final exam, I am now WFR Certified. I have to admit, I went into the training thinking of "just" getting certified, but found myself really enjoying the course and wanting to be a good First Responder. Our final patient scenario outside was handling a pair of climbers who had fallen and were critically injured. Open fracture, broken femur...blood everywhere! Pretty crazy stuff. Looking back, some of the decisions we made were the difference between our patient dying and surviving....which was the case. Obviously this was a fake scenario, but it was fulfilling none the less to think that I could have maybe saved a life.

Off to Day 7

Two more classroom days and then the final on Sunday.  It's very empowering to know all this stuff.

4 down, 5 to go

Yesterday was very hands on.  Learned how to check for spinal injuries, some rolls when spinal injury is expected and more patient scenarios to react to. Good stuff.

Off to WFR Training

I start my Wilderness First Responder training tomorrow. The course is very intensive - 76 hours over 9 days. So, if you're going to seriously hurt yourself on a ride you should ride with me. :)

A little biz...a little play...

My good friend and business partner Nate was in town for a long weekend. We got a ton of work done - somehow the motivation factor goes up considerably when we're working in person.
That said, it wasn't all work. We got a great freshie day in at Wolf Creek. The snow had moved out a few days prior, but because of road closures much of the mountain was untouched. Nate posing with the ice plastered trees:

Fluffy turns...

On Saturday we headed to Deer Creek for some backcountry boarding. Nate doesn't have a splitboard, so he was stuck snowshoeing...but made the best of it. Me exiting the white room:

Good weekend.....productive AND fun.
